Don’t get me wrong, I think meditation is awesome. And I am a big fan of getting outside and a firm believer in the power of nature to help us heal. But there’s more to beating stress than focussing on your breath. When it comes to effective and sustainable transformation in how stress affects your life, it takes a lot more than just changing your scenery.
Real change happens from the inside out, outside in, top-down and bottom-up. You cannot meditate or nature walk your way out of chronic work stress. You may in fact have to find a new job.
Alternatively, if you are Type A about everything you do, it doesn’t matter what job you are in. You’ll bring the same compulsivity and anxiety to every job you get, in which case meditation and neural repatterning will be critical.
